Negatives: 1) For some reason printing on the plug says it's 1.8 Amps, though Belkin's website verifies it is 2.1 Amps, but nothing is impacted by this. 2) It is a quality product, but the price seems a little high. A high quality micro USB cable runs $8 at most, and a high quality charger is about $9, or a total of $9 less than this Belkin. Those are longer and not as compact, though. 3) Only allows one device to be charged at a time. Those $9 models allow for charging 2 devices at the same time.
Conclusion: A tough and simple to use charger, that can charge phones to tablets, with it's biggest asset, perhaps, being it's compact, size.
I had some concerns after reading a few reviews, that this charger might somehow overheat my battery or do some kind of damage, so did a little reading. Devices evidently are designed to be self limiting and will only draw as much current as they need. The battery in my Kindle PaperWhite has a battery that's only 1600 mAh, while my Galaxy Note 3 phone's battery is double that size. Each charged at the same rate they would normally charge if plugged into a wall socket. The price, again is slightly more than I might have expected, but after owning it a short while, I appreciate it's smaller size both in storage when not in use and also since my cigarette lighter is behind my elbow in the center console, I'm much less likely to bump into it.
This a basic and very good car charger for your Kindle (as stated) and any device that uses a Micro USB cable to charge. You can also plug in a Lightning cable and chard your iOS devices all the way up to an iPad. It has the juice to charge the big tablets. There is a light to tell you that power is on. It is also short so it doesn’t protrude from your DC socket. It is almost flus, just enough protrudes to remove it. It comes with a 3’ MicroUSB cable to complete the kit.
